Mumbai, April 26:
Brand names often endure for a reason. They take years to establish and carry significant recognition. Therefore, when a company decides to retire a brand, it usually indicates a shift in strategy. In Anker’s case, this change is quite logical.
Anker Innovations has announced the discontinuation of the Soundcore brand in China, replacing it with “Anker Audio-Visual.” This decision was revealed through a local press release and social media posts. The reasoning becomes apparent when considering the brand’s recent usage.
Soundcore has long been associated with audio products—speakers, earbuds, and headphones. However, Anker began selling its Nebula projectors under the same brand, creating a disconnect. A projector under the Soundcore name never felt quite right.
The new name resolves this issue. “Anker Audio-Visual” encompasses both audio and visual products without causing confusion. It is a more straightforward approach and likely easier to expand in the future.
For current users, there will be no immediate changes. Anker states that products will continue to be available under both names for the time being, with no alterations in quality or features. This is primarily a branding update.
What remains uncertain is the timeline for this change to extend beyond China. So far, the announcement has only been made there. However, Soundcore has a solid presence in markets like the US and Europe, making a broader rollout likely in the future.
For now, if you notice “Anker Audio-Visual” replacing Soundcore, it signifies a rebranding rather than a new product line.
