Andhra Pradesh and Google Form Joint Task Force for AI and Digital Governance

Amaravati, June 15: The Andhra Pradesh government and Google have agreed to establish a special joint task force aimed at enhancing collaboration in various fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital governance.

This decision was made during a meeting between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Karan Bhatia, President of Google Asia-Pacific, on the first day of Naidu’s visit to Singapore.

During discussions, both parties explored opportunities to position Andhra Pradesh as a leading hub for AI, data centers, and digital infrastructure in India.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister‘s Office (CMO), the Chief Minister invited Google to play a significant role in the state’s digital governance initiatives. He sought collaboration with Google Cloud to leverage AI-based technologies for improving public service delivery.

Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen its real-time governance ecosystem through advanced cloud technologies and AI-driven solutions. He expressed interest in expanding AI-skilling and cloud-certification programs in partnership with Google Cloud.

He informed Google representatives that the state is establishing AI and cloud computing centers in universities and engineering colleges, seeking Google’s support in creating a robust innovation ecosystem.

Naidu also discussed the Sanjeevani project, which aims to provide accessible and efficient healthcare services through digital technologies. He invited Google to become a partner in this initiative and contribute its technical expertise.

The Chief Minister highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to green energy development, stating that the state is creating a sustainable energy ecosystem to support data centers and other energy-intensive industries.

He updated Google on the state’s significant progress in renewable energy and green infrastructure development.

Additionally, Naidu met with UN-Habitat Executive Director Anaclaudia Rosbach, inviting the organization to establish a Center of Excellence in Andhra Pradesh. He expressed the state government’s willingness to allocate land for the proposed facility and showed interest in developing a comprehensive partnership with UN-Habitat.

UN-Habitat representatives responded positively to the proposal. The discussions included collaboration between universities, integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into urban planning, professional knowledge-sharing networks, and initiatives for sustainable urban development.

The Chief Minister sought UN-Habitat’s assistance for the sustainable development of urban centers in Andhra Pradesh. The meeting also addressed implementing the Participatory Slum Upgrading Program (PSUP), preparing an urban planning framework for rapidly growing mid-sized cities, and strengthening municipalities’ financial status through innovative approaches.

Minister for Urban Administration and Development P. Narayana participated in these meetings with senior officials.
