New Delhi, August 27: American tech giant Apple is gearing up for its annual event on September 9. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, where Apple will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable iPhone model.
This will be the first major product launch under incoming CEO John Turnas, who will take over from Tim Cook on September 1.
During the event, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, reports suggest that both models may feature relatively minor upgrades compared to their predecessors, rather than significant design changes.
According to reports, Apple will not release a standard iPhone 18 this year. The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are anticipated to debut in the first half of 2027.
The foldable device may be named “iPhone Ultra,” featuring a book-like foldable design. It is expected to have an internal display of approximately 7.8 inches and an external screen of about 5.5 inches.
The internal screen may include an under-display camera, while the external display could feature a punch-hole camera. Initial pricing estimates suggest that this device will be significantly more expensive than Apple’s current lineup, with some reports indicating a starting price of around $2,000.
Reports also indicate that the foldable iPhone may come with a dual-camera setup on the back, including a main and ultra-wide-angle camera. Additionally, there is a possibility that Apple will reintroduce Touch ID in the iPhone.
The September event is likely to showcase the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which may utilize the new A20 Pro chip based on a 2nm manufacturing process, along with Apple’s C2 modem.
Significant camera upgrades are also expected. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a variable-aperture main camera. Apple is reportedly working on under-display Face ID technology as well.
The company may also update its smartwatch lineup during the September event. The new generation of AirPods Pro, set to be unveiled in September, may include camera-equipped earbuds that work with Apple’s visual intelligence features, enabling the system to understand its surroundings.
