Punjab Emerges as a Major IT Destination, Says Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, August 24: Punjab is rapidly establishing itself as a prominent IT destination. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made this announcement following a crucial meeting with a delegation from NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies). He stated that Mohali is set to become a key hub for artificial intelligence (AI), digital innovation, and Global Capability Centers (GCC).

The Chief Minister highlighted that world-class infrastructure, a skilled talent pool, low business costs, the ‘Invest Punjab’ initiative, and the new GCC policy for 2026 are creating a robust ecosystem for technology companies and new investments. He emphasized the government’s focus on attracting more investments to Punjab and generating new employment opportunities for the youth.

During the meeting, CM Mann remarked, “Punjab is focusing on technology-driven transformation and aims to leverage emerging technology models to attract next-generation industrial investments. I invite NASSCOM to partner with Punjab in Mohali’s state-of-the-art startup incubator and contribute to strengthening the state’s startup and innovation ecosystem.”

He also noted that the state has collaborated with Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), IIT Ropar, and the Ministry of Agriculture to implement AI-based solutions in the agricultural sector. This collaboration aims to integrate smart farming models, precision agriculture tools, and predictive analytics to enhance farmers’ yields and promote sustainability.

Mann mentioned that multinational companies are showing significant interest in investing in Punjab, particularly in Mohali.

“Mohali offers an unparalleled mix of world-class air, rail, and road connectivity, excellent medical facilities, high-level educational institutions, and ample land availability. These features make Mohali an attractive location for global companies and technology-based investments,” he added.

With six world-class universities in and around Mohali, global companies have direct access to a skilled talent pool. He concluded, “This combination of skilled human resources, quality infrastructure, and connectivity provides companies with a strong ecosystem to establish and expand their operations.”
