Ancient Jain Idol Stolen in Greater Noida: Two Arrested Within 24 Hours

Greater Noida, February 17: In a shocking incident, police have solved a major theft case at a Jain temple located in Sainipura village, Greater Noida, within just 24 hours. Two suspects have been arrested for stealing an ancient idol made of Ashtadhatu, estimated to be around 800 years old, along with other valuable religious items.

The police recovered all the stolen goods from the suspects. According to reports, on February 16, information was received at the Ecotech-3 police station that two individuals, identified as Mulayam and Chetan, had stolen a silver Pandushila, a silver coconut, a silver pot, and the ancient idol from the temple.

Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered at the Ecotech-3 police station. Given the seriousness of the incident, the police launched an immediate investigation. Utilizing electronic surveillance and confidential informants, the police team apprehended both suspects in the Sunpura village area on Tuesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mulayam Singh, son of Parsu Singh, a resident of Bijori Pathak village, and Chetan, son of Jai Prakash, from Dhoom Manikpur village in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The police recovered one ancient idol made of Ashtadhatu, eight pieces of the silver Pandushila, one silver coconut, and one silver pot from their possession.

Considering the idol’s historical significance, it is being preserved securely. Police officials are currently interrogating the suspects to determine whether they acted alone or are part of a larger gang.
