
Geneva, June 21: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif of Pakistan has arrived in Switzerland to facilitate the next phase of discussions between the United States and Iran, scheduled for Sunday evening. Accompanying him is a Pakistani delegation, which has been welcomed by the Swiss Foreign Ministry. Field Marshal Asim Munir is also part of the delegation.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced on social media platform X, “We welcome the arrival of the Pakistani delegation in Switzerland. As one of the mediators for the agreements signed between the U.S. and Iran, the Pakistani delegation is heading to Bürgenstock for the next round of talks.”
Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s office in Pakistan stated, “On June 21, 2026, the Prime Minister and Field Marshal will participate in high-level discussions regarding the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has arrived in Zurich with his delegation.”
The office added that both Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will be involved in the discussions concerning the agreement’s implementation.
Earlier, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance arrived in Switzerland for talks with Iran. The Iranian delegation had reached Switzerland late Saturday night. The Swiss Foreign Ministry welcomed the Iranian delegation’s arrival on social media, stating, “The Iranian delegation is heading to the Bürgenstock Resort as part of the implementation of the memorandum signed between the U.S. and Iran.”
According to Iran’s state television, IRIB, the delegation representing Iran has also arrived in Switzerland. News agency Xinhua reported that the Iranian delegation’s codename is ‘Minab 168.’
On Saturday, Switzerland reiterated its commitment to providing a “cautious and reliable environment” to facilitate discussions at the Bürgenstock Resort regarding the implementation of the memorandum between the U.S. and Iran.
Initial talks on implementing the interim peace agreement were scheduled for Friday but were postponed.
