Mumbai, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Amrapali Dubey, a prominent actress in Bhojpuri cinema, is currently making waves on “Bigg Boss 20.” Her participation in the show has sparked renewed interest in her career and journey. Dubey has carved out a unique identity in the Bhojpuri film industry. She attributes her stardom not merely to her popularity but to her acting skills, which she believes have earned her the respect that is most meaningful to her as an actress.
In a recent interview, Dubey expressed her concerns about the limitations often placed on female actors in regional cinema. She pointed out that many actresses are frequently confined to roles that offer little room for performance.
When asked whether she feels the Bhojpuri industry has given her enough respect as an actress or if her star power is emphasized more, she replied, “I have received a lot of respect due to my acting skills. It is not common for female artists to receive such recognition in regional cinema, as they are often seen in limited, decorative roles.”
Dubey added, “In regional cinema, the roles for female artists are often restricted to enhancing the film’s beauty. However, I consider myself lucky. I have consistently had opportunities to be part of films and projects with unique stories and concepts. My roles have varied, allowing me to explore something new each time.”
Reflecting on her diverse roles, Dubey mentioned, “I have played a Pakistani girl and a Hyderabadi character on screen. The Bhojpuri industry has allowed me to take on various roles, and audiences have appreciated each of my portrayals. Initially, people liked my characters and acting, and only then did I earn the title of a star.”
“Bigg Boss 20” features 16 celebrity contestants from various fields, including Kanika Mann, Asif Khan, Kazi Tauqeer, Esha Rikhy, Rohit Khan, Love Gill, MC Mary Kom, Young DSA, Tanmay Singh, Arishfa Khan, Kushal Tanwar, Aman Gandhi, Uditi Singh, Riti Tiwari, and Maahi Vij, alongside Dubey.
