Mumbai, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his candid remarks, has drawn a striking parallel between artificial intelligence (AI) and the Industrial Revolution. On Monday, Varma shared his thoughts on social media platform X, stating that AI is beginning to replace jobs that rely on human creativity and intellect.
He emphasized that those who do not embrace AI will be the first to lose their jobs. “Technology has always been designed for our convenience, to spare us from physical hardships and save time,” Varma wrote. He expressed optimism about the future, suggesting that AI could grant humanity the free time it has long desired.
“We humans have always possessed two assets: strength to work and a mind to think creatively,” he noted. Varma further elaborated on his comparison, stating, “The Industrial Revolution started eliminating physical jobs, and now AI is poised to diminish our cognitive roles. Soon, we may find ourselves devoid of both, which is akin to our greatest wish coming true.”
Concluding his thoughts, Varma referenced Edward Abbey’s cautionary tale from W.W. Jacob’s story “The Monkey’s Paw,” warning, “Be careful what you wish for; it may come true, and it has.” Currently, Varma is busy producing the film “Police Station Mein Bhoot,” which reunites him with actor Manoj Bajpayee after nearly two decades. The duo previously collaborated on acclaimed films such as “Satya,” “Shool,” and “Road.”
