Kolkata, April 26: In a rally held in Tehatta, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He claimed that the people of Bengal had decisively rejected ‘Didi’ in the first phase of the assembly elections, giving the BJP a clear lead.
Shah stated that out of the 152 seats where voting took place in the first phase, the BJP is winning in 110. He expressed confidence that the party would complete the remaining work in the second phase and form the government in West Bengal. The people of Bengal are ready for change and have decided to oust the TMC government.
Addressing issues concerning women and youth, Shah promised that if the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, every woman in the state would receive ₹3,000 in her bank account starting in May. Additionally, unemployed youth would also receive ₹3,000 per month. He announced that every pregnant woman would be given financial assistance of ₹21,000 for child care and nutrition.
Shah accused the Mamata Banerjee government of neglecting farmers, particularly garlic farmers. He pointed out that while garlic sells for ₹200 per kilo in other parts of the country, farmers in Bengal are forced to sell their produce for just ₹12 per kilo due to the influx of fake Chinese garlic through Bangladesh. He assured that the entry of Chinese garlic would be banned under a BJP government, ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their crops.
He also addressed local issues in Tehatta, mentioning the incomplete construction of a bridge over the Jalangi River. Shah criticized the state government for leaving this project unfinished for a long time. He promised that if the BJP forms the government, the bridge would be completed within two years.
During the rally, Shah accused the TMC of running a ‘syndicate raj’ and vowed that all TMC syndicates would be dismantled as soon as the BJP government is established on May 5. He pledged to strengthen law and order and take strict action against TMC goons.
