Amit Shah Lays Foundation Stone for Rajasthan’s First Degree College for Visually Impaired

Udaipur, September 22 (Udaipur Kiran News): Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, laid the foundation stone of two landmark projects in JodhpurMotilal Oswal Gyandeep Bhawan, a degree college for students with visual disabilities, and Motilal Oswal Jyotisadan, a dedicated hostel for visually impaired girls.

Launched by the Motilal Oswal Foundation, the initiative marks the establishment of Rajasthan’s first degree college for the visually impaired, coupled with a purpose-built hostel offering free accommodation, meals, and transport facilities.

The foundation ceremony was held at Netraheen Vikas Sansthan, Chokha, Jodhpur, in the presence of Motilal Oswal, Chairman of the Motilal Oswal Foundation, Shrimati Sushila Bohra, Founder President of Netraheen Vikas Sansthan, Anil Bohra, Chairperson of Shri Parasmal Bohra College, and other dignitaries.

The college building (1,580 sq. mtrs.) will house 10 modern classrooms and offer undergraduate courses in Hindi Literature, History, Political Science, Sanskrit, Music, and Sociology. The girls’ hostel (1,750 sq. mtrs.), with 28 rooms, will serve students from across India, ensuring holistic academic support alongside computer education, Braille resources, screen readers, e-library access, and opportunities in sports, cultural, and leadership activities. Together, the facilities will benefit 250 students.

Motilal Oswal, Chairman of the Foundation, said, “Education is the cornerstone of equality and empowerment. With these facilities in Jodhpur, we aim to create a world where visual impairment never becomes a barrier to academic excellence and professional success.”

Trustee Raamdeo Agrawal added that the Foundation’s goal is to enable visually impaired youth to pursue higher education and lead independent lives.

Shrimati Sushila Bohra highlighted the growth of Netraheen Vikas Sansthan since 1977, from just two children to over 1,250 students across eight institutions. She praised the Foundation’s contribution, calling it “a giving that lights the way for future generations.”

With Gyandeep Bhawan and Jyotisadan, the Motilal Oswal Foundation has reinforced its commitment to inclusive education and community development, ensuring equitable access for specially abled students.
