
New Delhi, April 14: Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged everyone to support the historic Women’s Reservation Bill, describing it as a necessity of our times.
In a post on the social media platform X, he stated, “The Women’s Reservation Bill is essential today. It is our ‘Nari Shakti’s’ rightful claim to contribute to policymaking and empower the nation. The Modi government is committed to bringing and implementing this law.”
He emphasized, “This is a change that should undoubtedly be for the better and without any delay. I hope everyone will step forward and support this historic initiative.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also wrote an open letter to women regarding the bill. In his post on X, he mentioned, “Our mothers, sisters, and daughters across the country appreciate the decision to ensure reservation for women in the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. This letter, dedicated to India’s Nari Shakti, shares my thoughts with fellow citizens on realizing this long-pending commitment.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ in a letter, highlighting the growing support for women’s reservation in legislative bodies and reaffirming the government’s commitment to implementing this long-awaited reform.
PM Modi noted in his post on X, “Women across India are appreciating this initiative to ensure reservation for women in legislative bodies. Here is my letter to India’s Nari Shakti, reiterating my commitment to implementing this long-pending reform.”
He began his letter with the traditional greeting ‘Namaskar’ and referenced the historical significance of April 14, the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar. Paying tribute to Dr. Ambedkar, PM Modi highlighted his contributions to nation-building and his commitment to constitutional values that continue to guide India’s democratic journey.
Furthermore, PM Modi announced that Parliament will reconvene on April 16, where a significant constitutional amendment related to the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ will be discussed.
