Jaipur, April 18: The Rajasthan BJP’s state president, Madan Rathore, launched a strong attack on the opposition on Saturday, stating that there is significant anger among women regarding the rejection of the Women’s Reservation Bill. He urged women to not allow parties opposing this bill to take the political stage and to show them disdain.
In an interview with a news agency, Rathore remarked, “Today, our sisters are going to space and serving in the army. Are they weak? If they can hold positions in governance, why not in law?” He expressed disappointment that Congress has deprived women of their rights.
Rathore also criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying, “She is a woman herself, yet she has become an enemy of women by not allowing laws to be made for them. This is very unfortunate.”
Rakhi Rathore, president of the BJP’s women’s wing in Rajasthan, also condemned the opposition. She stated, “The celebrations held by the opposition after the bill was rejected were disgraceful. Congress and the India Mahagathbandhan have always worked to keep women behind. It is particularly disheartening that Priyanka Gandhi and Dimple Yadav were present. I had hoped they would vote in favor of women, but sadly, they displayed the same old mentality.”
Rakhi Rathore continued, “Given their political backgrounds, they have secure seats, but they showed no regard for ordinary female workers. They missed a golden opportunity to stand in support of women.”
The women’s wing president announced a major and historic protest against the opposition’s stance, scheduled for April 20 in Jaipur. She concluded, “The opposition is anti-women. Now, women will teach them a lesson by voting against them.”
