New Delhi, April 18: Prime Minister Modi sharply criticized the opposition during his address to the nation on Saturday. He claimed that the opposition was applauding while infringing on women’s rights.
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar commented on Modi’s speech, highlighting how the Prime Minister unveiled the opposition’s anti-women and divisive nature. He noted that due to the Congress, DMK, SP, and TMC’s anti-reform mentality, the country missed a historic opportunity. Under Modi’s leadership, there is a commitment to ensure a legitimate 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies.
Former Governor Kiran Bedi expressed on the social media platform ‘X’ that Modi’s message has reignited hope. She suggested that women may soon claim their rightful place in state assemblies and Parliament, potentially even before 2029. Time will tell, but the momentum is clear.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared on ‘X’ that he listened to PM Modi’s address regarding the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.’ He stated that Modi exposed the truth of Congress and its allies, revealing their anti-women stance. He lamented that the failure to pass the constitutional amendment related to women’s reservation is not only unfortunate but akin to the political disempowerment of women’s strength. The celebration by Congress leaders after the bill’s failure reflects their insensitivity and shamelessness. The nation’s women will never accept this humiliation and will respond democratically to this injustice.
Senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje posted on ‘X,’ stating that the truth does not require validation. She added that under Modi’s leadership, efforts to ensure equal participation of women in decision-making processes are welcomed by every woman in the country. She asserted that those opposing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam are preparing to remain in opposition for a fourth time, regardless of the confusion they create or obstacles they introduce. The strength of women in the country has neither stopped nor will it stop.
Central Minister Chirag Paswan supported PM Modi’s address on ‘X,’ stating that every citizen of India is witnessing how women’s empowerment has been stifled and their dreams brutally crushed. Despite our best efforts, the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam did not pass in Parliament, for which he apologized to all mothers and sisters.
Central Minister Annapurna Devi remarked that while women may forget many things, they never forget their humiliation.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta posted on ‘X,’ accusing Congress of hating the very topic of women’s reservation, claiming they have always conspired to block it.
