Amit Malviya Critiques Congress Over AI Summit Protests, Citing Nehrus Legacy

New Delhi, March 10: Amit Malviya, head of the BJP IT cell, has launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Youth Congress in the Lok Sabha. In a post on ‘X’, he accused Gandhi of supporting the controversial protests that took place during the AI Summit held in Delhi, expressing pride in the actions of the Youth Congress.

Malviya shared a video clip of Rahul Gandhi, claiming the opposition leader stated, “The Youth Congress has done the work.” This remark followed an incident where some Youth Congress activists disrupted the AI Summit by removing their shirts. Malviya asserted that such protests damage India’s image on the global stage.

He questioned why, when top technical experts, policymakers, and innovators gathered to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, the Congress party believed that chaos and disgraceful demonstrations were the best way to represent India. Malviya deemed this situation extremely unfortunate.

In his post on ‘X’, Malviya attempted to connect the issue to the country’s political and historical context. He noted that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, whom Congress considers its ideological foundation, had a very different perspective on national character and loyalty.

Malviya referenced an incident from the 1950s regarding the succession of the Indore throne after the death of Maharaja Yashwant Rao Holkar II. The controversy arose over whether Richard Holkar, the son born to his American wife, should inherit the Holkar legacy.

He mentioned that prominent leaders of that time, including President Rajendra Prasad and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, participated in discussions on this matter. After deliberation, Nehru clearly stated that the successor should be someone born to an Indian mother. Ultimately, the government recognized Maharaja’s daughter, Rajkumari Usha Devi Rajé Sahib Holkar, as the legitimate heir. Nehru later wrote that her recognition was due to her being a part of the Holkar lineage by birth.

Malviya argued that this example illustrates that issues of national identity and loyalty are not merely concepts but are deeply rooted in origin and connection.

He questioned Rahul Gandhi and Congress, asking why they struggle to understand Nehru’s stance if he believed that a person born of foreign descent could not be entrusted with the nation’s responsibilities. According to Malviya, this may explain why they take pride in demonstrations that embarrass India rather than uphold the country’s dignity.
