Amethi, May 22: In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Amethi police have destroyed a large quantity of illegal drugs valued at ₹2.5 crore. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sarvanan T., the district-level drug disposal committee carried out the incineration of 212.984 kilograms of drugs linked to 29 registered cases across various police stations.
The destroyed substances included dangerous drugs such as cannabis, smack, heroin, opium poppy, and diazepam. According to police estimates, the total value of these drugs is approximately ₹2.5 crore. This operation was conducted as part of the Uttar Pradesh Police’s “Operation Dahan” initiative on Thursday.
During the disposal process, Additional Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh was present to oversee the operation. The drugs were incinerated at the incinerator plant in Sultanpur, following standard procedures. All actions were executed transparently, in full compliance with court orders.
Gyanendra Kumar Singh stated that ongoing efforts are being made to eradicate illegal drug trafficking in Amethi district. He mentioned, “On Thursday, we disposed of nearly 213 kilograms of narcotics related to 29 cases registered in various police stations. The substances included cannabis, opium, smack, and heroin.”
The Amethi police emphasized their commitment to protecting youth from addiction and dismantling drug mafia networks. In recent months, significant actions have been taken against drug trafficking and supply chains in the district, leading to multiple arrests. The police assured that swift action will continue in all drug-related cases.
Such disposal operations not only reduce stock but also send a clear message to drug traffickers that law enforcement is operating rigorously. The Amethi police have also initiated local awareness programs aimed at preventing drug abuse, involving students and parents from schools and colleges.
