New Delhi, May 22: The capital of Bihar, Patna, along with several districts in the state, is experiencing a severe heatwave that is significantly impacting daily life. The extreme temperatures are particularly affecting school children.
To safeguard the health of children, Patna’s District Magistrate Tyagarajan has issued a crucial directive regarding schools in the area. According to the order from the Patna district administration, all government and private schools will remain closed for students up to the 5th grade. Additionally, all pre-schools and Anganwadi centers will also be closed during this period. This order will be effective from May 22 to May 26.
In Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, the district administration is on high alert due to the relentless heat and rising temperatures. The District Magistrate of Lucknow has also ordered the closure of all schools (both government and private) to ensure the safety of children. This decision comes in light of the increasing heat, intense sunlight, and the risk of heatstroke.
Authorities have urged the public to venture outside only for essential tasks and to adopt all necessary precautions against the heat. Both state administrations have advised people to avoid going out during the afternoon and to pay special attention to children and the elderly.
The Meteorological Department has also recommended that people stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, drink plenty of water, and protect themselves from the scorching winds. The administration has made it clear that the safety of children is the top priority, which has guided this decision.
As per the directive, all government, aided, and private schools in the district will observe summer vacation starting May 22. School managements have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
In Lucknow, temperatures have been steadily rising over the past few days, leading to deserted streets during the afternoon. On Thursday, the temperature reached a staggering 42 degrees Celsius.
