Mumbai, August 9: Music composer Amal Malik is currently in the spotlight for his work on the upcoming film ‘Awarapan 2.’ He is actively involved in promoting the film, for which he has composed the song ‘Ye Awarapan.’ In a recent interview, Amal shared his thoughts on the process of selecting singers for his compositions.
He stated that when he works on a song, he already has a clear idea of the type of voice needed. Rather than experimenting, he prefers to make decisions based on his vision and the requirements of the song.
Amal explained, “I am quite clear about my choice of singer from the outset. When I collaborate with a vocalist, I have a sense of whether their voice will fit the song. If I believe a singer’s voice isn’t suitable, I make that clear from the beginning.”
He added, “If I have names like Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, or KK in front of me, I don’t believe in recording with all of them first and then deciding. I usually have a good idea of which singer’s voice will resonate best with the song’s emotion and narrative before I start.”
Amal likened his decision-making process to having an AI in his mind that helps determine which singer should perform the song. After that, he collaborates with his team and producer to move forward.
Regarding ‘Awarapan 2,’ it is a sequel to the 2007 film ‘Awarapan,’ featuring Emraan Hashmi reprising his role as Shivam Pandit. The original film did not perform exceptionally well at the box office upon its release but gained significant love from audiences in subsequent years.
There is considerable excitement surrounding ‘Awarapan 2,’ and Amal Malik’s song ‘Ye Awarapan’ is a key part of this anticipation. The film is set to hit theaters on August 14, 2026.
