Mysuru, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : A significant controversy has erupted in Mysuru, Karnataka, regarding the removal of names from the voter list in the Narasimha Raja assembly constituency. Congress MLA Tanveer Sait has accused local BJP representatives of submitting over 10,000 Form-7 applications, potentially impacting around 100,000 voters.
In a statement, Sait expressed concern about the ongoing situation, stating, “Since the process began in Karnataka, the Congress party has consistently argued that the names of genuine voters should not be removed from the electoral list.” He highlighted that there seems to be an effort to target minority and Dalit voters in his constituency.
Sait detailed the alarming number of objections filed, noting, “More than 10,000 Form-7 applications have been submitted. The legitimacy of these submissions will be clarified through an investigation, but we are seeing objections ranging from 100 to 200 at individual polling booths. Many of those who submitted these forms have no connection to the area.”
To address these concerns, the MLA has lodged a formal complaint with the police, resulting in two FIRs being registered. He has called for an immediate investigation to uncover the truth behind these actions.
Sait has placed the blame for this situation squarely on the BJP and the RSS, alleging that such tactics are part of their strategy to secure electoral victories. “Wherever Congress has been successful, these kinds of maneuvers are employed. The BJP and RSS resort to such tactics to win elections, as they lack any genuine programs or plans to connect with the people,” he added.
The unfolding situation in Mysuru raises critical questions about electoral integrity and the treatment of vulnerable communities in the political landscape.
