CPI(M) Leader Demands Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Amid Voter List Controversy
CPI(M) leader M.A. Baby calls for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid voter list disputes and allegations of vote theft.

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : A significant political clash is brewing in New Delhi as the CPI(M) leader M.A. Baby demands the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. This call comes in the wake of allegations regarding the removal of 130 million names from the voter list, leading to accusations of “vote theft.”
During a recent press conference, Baby referenced the September 30 meeting of the India Bloc, where a united front was formed among opposition parties. He announced plans for a joint march by MPs from the India Bloc and other interested opposition parties to demand Kumar’s immediate resignation.
Baby stated, “The removal of 130 million names from the voter list is unacceptable under the guise of a special intensive review. If he does not resign, we will force him to do so through our struggle.”
He criticized Kumar’s handling of the situation, claiming it reflects an arbitrary approach. Baby pointed out that at one time, Kumar attempted to portray his actions as lawful, despite the matter being under the Supreme Court‘s scrutiny. He welcomed the Chief Justice’s clarification, emphasizing that Kumar’s conduct was illegal and irresponsible.
In response to another query, Baby acknowledged Rahul Gandhi‘s observations, affirming that all parties within the India Bloc share a unified stance.
Additionally, Baby dismissed claims made by BJP spokespersons as nonsensical. He highlighted ongoing discussions in society regarding various illegal initiatives by the BJP government. He criticized the biased laws governing the selection of election commissioners, noting that they are granted extraordinary protections from civil or criminal prosecution during their tenure.
The political landscape remains tense as the opposition gears up for what could be a significant confrontation over electoral integrity.
