
Patna, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar’s Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, has called for swift action on eco-tourism and solar initiatives in the state’s natural and hilly areas. During a review meeting held at the ‘Sankalp’ auditorium, he stressed the need for public-private partnerships (PPP) to develop eco-tourism projects as required. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of promoting solar energy in these regions.
The meeting, attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Anand Kishore, focused on the potential for eco-tourism in Bihar. Discussions included the development of tourist facilities around water bodies and dams, as well as plans to enhance environmentally friendly tourism in mountainous and forested areas.
Specific sites such as the Odhani Dam in Banka, the Khagaria Dam in Munger, the Tarakol Dam in Nawada, and the Jalakund Dam in Munger were identified for eco-tourism development. The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the enhancement of tourism facilities around these water bodies.
Plans to create essential infrastructure for eco-tourism near the Khagaria Dam were also discussed, including the possibility of constructing a ‘glass room’ to attract visitors. Moreover, the Chief Minister instructed that Kasaariya Dhaar in Khagaria be developed as an eco-tourism site.
For locations lacking sufficient government land for eco-tourism projects, the Chief Minister suggested acquiring land as necessary. He emphasized ensuring land availability for tourism development around Tarakol and Jalakund Dams.
The Chief Minister particularly stressed using environmentally friendly and sustainable materials in developing tourist facilities in hilly and mountainous regions. He encouraged the use of natural materials like bamboo and wood.
Furthermore, he directed that if a ropeway is needed for tourism at certain sites, efforts should be made to construct it. The government also plans to promote green energy in the state’s hilly areas, with a focus on solarization to enhance tourism facilities while promoting clean energy use.
Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed large-scale plantation efforts around the state’s major ponds and water bodies, urging officials to meet the state’s tree plantation targets promptly. The government’s goal is to increase the state’s green cover.
He concluded by urging the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department to coordinate with relevant departments to expedite all projects. The aim is to develop tourism potential while conserving natural resources and the environment, ultimately boosting local employment and economic activities while providing tourists with quality facilities in a natural setting.
The meeting was attended by Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr. Ramchandra Prasad, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, and other senior officials.
