Akhilesh Yadav Meets Family of Victim in Meerut, Demands Justice

Lucknow, July 11: The National President of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, visited Meerut on Saturday to meet the family of Dalit student Lalita Gautam. He assured them of his support in their fight for justice. Yadav urged the BJP government to immediately fulfill all demands of the victim’s family and ensure justice for the deceased student.

Yadav criticized the authorities for filing weak charges against the named accused in the alleged assault and murder case, while imposing serious charges on those protesting. He described this as “the pinnacle of injustice,” raising questions about the judicial system.

He also questioned the police’s conduct, stating that the behavior of senior officers undermines public trust. Yadav claimed that a video of a police officer’s conduct has gone viral, damaging the image of the Uttar Pradesh police and making dedicated officers feel uncomfortable.

He expressed concern over the government’s attitude towards women in the state. Yadav pointed out that if those in power lack sensitivity towards grieving families, expecting justice from the police becomes challenging.

He stated, “The public will no longer tolerate this; they demand justice and accountability.” Criticizing the BJP government, he added that the people are no longer interested in speeches but in real justice.

In a sarcastic remark, he said, “When those in control are themselves out of control, what can be expected from those serving them?”
