Lucknow, April 14: Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Urban Development and Energy, AK Sharma, showcased a transparent and accountable governance model through the ‘Sambhav’ online grievance redressal system. During a public hearing held late at night in Mau, the minister addressed over 100 complaints on the spot, emphasizing that negligence in public service will not be tolerated at any level.
Minister Sharma conducted a statewide online public hearing at the multipurpose building ‘Mangalma’ in Mau. During this session, more than 100 consumers and complainants from various districts presented their issues directly to the minister and senior officials, ensuring immediate resolution of their grievances. The ‘Sambhav’ platform facilitates direct interaction between complainants and officials, enhancing transparency and eliminating delays in problem-solving.
The minister stated that this system has become an effective and reliable platform for public interest. During the hearing, he adopted a strict stance on negligence, issuing immediate action directives in several cases. In Barabanki, he ordered the removal of a lineman for creating incorrect estimates, suspended a Junior Engineer, and directed action and transfer against the Executive Engineer.
Additionally, he insisted on strict measures against guilty officials in districts like Azamgarh, Bareilly, and Agra. In Maharajganj, an official was suspended for failing to provide connections despite estimates being submitted. The minister clarified that providing timely services to consumers is the department’s primary responsibility, particularly in cases from Bareilly and Meerut. In a case from Varanasi, he directed prompt resolution after obtaining legal advice, while emphasizing the need to address billing issues related to smart meters in Unnao.
The Energy Minister instructed officials to inspect and take corrective actions to improve the electricity supply in Jhansi, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, and Mathura. He stressed that ensuring uninterrupted power supply in faith centers like Mathura should be a priority.
At the end of the public hearing, the minister directed measures to ensure power supply according to the roster, completely halt unnecessary cuts during the evening, and run awareness campaigns to dispel misconceptions regarding smart meters. Many complainants praised the ‘Sambhav’ initiative, describing it as an effective and transparent platform for public interest.
