Bengaluru, April 15: The 23rd match of IPL 2026 will see Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Stopping the in-form RCB at their home ground poses a significant challenge for LSG.
Matches between RCB and LSG have always been thrilling. Both teams have had their moments, with LSG sometimes overpowering RCB at home and vice versa. However, when looking at the overall record, RCB holds the advantage.
So far, the two teams have played six matches, with RCB winning four and LSG securing two victories. These statistics indicate that facing RCB has never been easy for LSG.
RCB’s current form is a major concern for Lucknow. The team’s batting is explosive, and their bowling has proven to be equally lethal. With three wins out of four matches, RCB sits third in the points table, having lost only to Rajasthan Royals.
Phil Salt has returned to form, and Virat Kohli has shown consistency. Captain Rajat Patidar, along with Devdutt Padikkal, Tim David, Venkatesh Iyer, and Romario Shepherd, are all in good form, posing a challenge for LSG’s bowlers. On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jacob Duffy, Rasikh Salam, Krunal Pandya, and Suyash Sharma have performed well.
LSG’s batting has been a concern. Big names like Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, and Nicholas Pooran have struggled to deliver impactful innings, except for a few occasions. Although Mukul Chaudhary has shown promise in the lower order, relying on one player is not a viable strategy. LSG’s top order must perform at their best to challenge Bengaluru effectively.
On the bowling side, LSG has impressed. Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav have excelled in pace bowling, while Digvijay Rathi has shone in spin.
For LSG to challenge RCB at home, they need to present a united and effective team performance. Currently, LSG stands seventh in the table with two wins from four matches, totaling four points.
