Ajmal Accuses Congress of Acting Like Another Muslim League

Guwahati, May 8: Badaruddin Ajmal, the leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), launched a fierce attack on the Congress party on Thursday. He accused the party of becoming “another Muslim League” and failing to serve as an effective opposition in Assam.

Speaking to reporters after his victory from the Binakandi assembly constituency, Ajmal claimed that Congress has abandoned minority communities and indirectly aided the BJP politically in the state.

He stated that Congress can no longer function as a genuine opposition force. It has become akin to another Muslim League, failing to address the real issues faced by the people.

Ajmal emphasized that the responsibility of challenging the BJP-led government in Assam now falls on the AIUDF. He noted that although the party secured only a handful of seats, its legislators will continue to raise issues related to minorities, eviction drives, detention centers, and the D-voter system.

He asserted that one AIUDF MLA would be equivalent to a hundred voices in the assembly.

Ajmal highlighted that Muslims in Assam have faced fear, insecurity, and humiliation for many years, yet Congress has remained silent instead of strongly opposing the government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Referring to the political rhetoric surrounding the Miya community, he mentioned that minority voters expected a stronger stance from Congress, but the party’s inaction left them disappointed.

According to Ajmal, Congress leadership has failed to fill the political void created in the opposition, allowing the AIUDF to emerge as a significant voice against the ruling party.

He also criticized senior Congress leaders, including Gaurav Gogoi and Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, for their inability to politically confront the BJP.

Furthermore, Ajmal claimed that both Congress and BJP coordinated during the election campaign to politically weaken his party.

Regarding internal matters, he dismissed speculation about leaders leaving the AIUDF, stating that those who departed were removed due to organizational differences and issues of indiscipline.
