Ayodhya, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Former Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai celebrated his birthday by performing prayers at Hanumangarhi and reciting the Hanuman Chalisa in Ayodhya. During the event, he responded to recent statements made by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accusing the BJP government of undermining the electoral process.
Rai stated, “The country is facing a serious crisis. Democracy is being killed by weakening the electoral process. Our leader Rahul Gandhi is fighting against this. He is challenging the Chief Election Commissioner. Gyanesh Kumar must resign. The entire country and the Congress party stand with Rahul Gandhi.”
Rai also addressed comments made by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, who had previously remarked that dynastic politics had become synonymous with development. Rai countered, saying, “The BJP is steeped in dynastic politics. Pankaj Singh and Neeraj Singh, sons of Rajnath Singh, have become BJP officials and legislators. What does the Chief Minister have to say about that? His own party is filled with such individuals. There are not just one or two, but dozens. Take Anurag Thakur as an example. There is a long line of families involved in BJP politics.”
He further criticized the BJP government for perpetuating injustice and depriving citizens of their voting rights. “Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress party will continue to fight against this government,” he added.
Regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Rai mentioned, “These elections depend on numbers and other factors, but I wouldn’t say that common workers and party cadres should be given a chance.”
Congress MP J.B. Mathur chimed in, stating, “Rahul Gandhi, as a leader of the Congress and the INDIA bloc, along with nearly 300 MPs, were heading to the Election Commission with a legitimate demand. If Kiren Rijiju thinks this is a drama, he is disrespecting the voice of the nation and its democracy. This is not just about the Congress party or the opposition; civil society, ordinary people, youth, and students feel the same way. Gyanesh Kumar is a BJP worker, which is why Kiren Rijiju is concerned about him.”
