Digvijaya Singh to Launch Saty Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra Addressing Vote and Donation Theft Issues

Bhopal, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, is set to embark on the ‘Saty Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’ on October 20, coinciding with Vijayadashami. The journey will cover approximately 950 kilometers, starting from Shivdham in Ujjain and concluding at Ramdham in Ayodhya. Singh emphasized that the current pressing issues are ‘vote theft’ and ‘donation theft,’ which he believes jeopardize democracy and the integrity of the electoral process.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Bhopal, alongside his wife Amrita Rai, Singh stated that these two issues have raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability in the country. He aims to raise awareness and demand accountability through this yatra.

The journey will begin at the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, pass through the Ram Raja temple in Orchha, and end at the Sri Ram temple in Ayodhya. Singh described the yatra as a peaceful initiative aimed at raising public consciousness and clarified that it is not against any religion or individual. He stressed that temples are centers of faith, and it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the transparent use of donations received.

Singh outlined that during the yatra, one participant will carry the national flag while another will hold the religious flag, known as the Indra flag. This flag symbolizes strength, knowledge, self-reflection, peace, and respect for nature. The motto of the yatra will echo the Supreme Court‘s principle, “Yato Dharmastato Jayah,” meaning victory lies where there is righteousness.

The former Chief Minister also called for the immediate dissolution of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, proposing that the management of the Sri Ram temple be handed over to the previously established Ramalaya Trust. This trust would include representatives from various religious sects and organizations.

Singh urged that recent incidents of donation theft at the Ram temple should lead to legal action against the trust’s former officials, including the ex-secretary and treasurer. He insisted that no politicians or members of communal organizations should hold positions within the Ram temple trust.

Moreover, he demanded regular independent audits of major religious sites, including the Mahakal temple in Ujjain and the Ram Raja temple in Orchha. Singh emphasized the need for transparency in financial dealings, ensuring that donations and offerings are accounted for publicly, and that any irregularities are thoroughly investigated.

Tackling these issues, Singh remarked that the name of God should not be used as a tool for politics, personal gain, or corruption.
