
New Delhi, March 9: In Palamu district of Jharkhand, Jan Aushadhi Centers, operating under the Prime Minister’s Jan Aushadhi Yojana, have emerged as a lifeline for those unable to afford medications due to financial constraints.
These centers offer medicines at significantly lower prices compared to private pharmacies, resulting in substantial savings for the public. Beneficiaries have expressed heartfelt gratitude to PM Modi for this initiative.
Launched to provide affordable and quality medicines to the masses, the project offers generic drugs at prices much lower than branded alternatives. Daily, a large number of patients visit these centers to purchase medicines at reduced rates.
Patients have reported that medications that previously cost them between ₹300 to ₹400 are now available for just ₹80 to ₹100.
One beneficiary, Ranjit Kumar Gupta, shared his experience, stating that the Jan Aushadhi Center provides medications at much lower prices, greatly benefiting the poor. He mentioned that he came to buy diabetes medication, which costs around ₹250 outside but is available for just ₹24 at the center. Previously, he spent ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 monthly on medicines, but now he manages with approximately ₹200, offering significant relief to people like him.
Chhotu Kumar, the operator of the Jan Aushadhi Center, noted that they have hundreds of types of medicines available. Compared to branded drugs, they offer discounts of 60% to 80%. Many patients visit daily, benefiting from prices much lower than market rates. This initiative has provided considerable relief, especially to the economically disadvantaged.
Another beneficiary, Pankaj Kumar, emphasized that the central government’s initiative aims to make affordable and quality medicines accessible to the general public. Many patients have benefited from the Jan Aushadhi Centers, finding the medications suitable, and they express their gratitude to PM Modi for this support.
