Additional Train Trips Announced on Delhi-Meerut Corridor for Passenger Relief

New Delhi, May 21: In response to the rising number of passengers on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor, the NCRTC has made a significant decision. To enhance passenger convenience and manage the increasing crowd during peak hours, the NCRTC announced the launch of eight additional train trips starting this Friday.

According to the NCRTC, these extra services will operate during the busiest times. The revised schedule will provide additional train trips between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South Station from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 5 PM to 7 PM. Two more trains will be added to the corridor to facilitate these services.

Officials report a rapid increase in passenger numbers on the Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor in recent times. Currently, approximately 100,000 passengers use the Nammo Bharat service daily. This growing number indicates a shift in preference towards fast, comfortable, and reliable public transport over private vehicles.

The NCRTC believes this initiative will not only enhance passenger convenience but also promote environmental protection. Amid the global energy crisis and rising fuel prices, increased public transport usage is expected to reduce reliance on private vehicles, thereby decreasing both pollution and traffic congestion.

The Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor is the country’s first regional rapid rail system, designed to provide fast and modern regional connectivity. The Nammo Bharat trains can operate at a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour, reducing travel time between Delhi and Meerut by nearly one-third.

As the summer heat intensifies and crowds grow, many are opting for comfortable air-conditioned public transport. The NCRTC is continuously working to improve passenger experiences and make services more accessible and effective. The introduction of these additional train trips is expected to provide significant relief to thousands of daily commuters.
