Mumbai, August 18: Actress Antara Banerjee has expressed her anger after her photo was allegedly used by several media outlets in connection with an FIR report. However, the FIR actually involved Thane model Antara Soham Banerjee. In an exclusive conversation, Antara Banerjee shared her feelings about the incident.
“I have been in shock since I found out. I had no idea why this happened. I learned about it during the day yesterday. I received numerous calls and messages from family and friends asking, ‘Are you okay? Are you alright?’ I had no clue. When I opened one message, I saw my photo along with all this information, and that’s when I realized it was all over the internet,” she stated.
She continued, “What could I do at that moment? I was in shock, and I still am. This is a very mentally disturbing incident that has unfortunately occurred.”
The actress emphasized the impact on her family, saying, “It’s not just because my mother is unwell; any parent would worry upon hearing such news about their child, especially when the child is away. My mother panicked and was like, ‘What is happening? Where is this news coming from?’ She had no idea.”
Banerjee mentioned that her father, who lives in Kolkata, suggested, “Let’s come together and see what’s going on.” However, she and her team decided it was unnecessary for them to come at this time. “We will see what we can do and what the next steps will be,” she added.
“I just want to clarify that what has happened is wrong and should be removed immediately to prevent anyone’s image from being tarnished. This is not about publicity. Please do not view it that way. Our next step will be legal action because we have no other option left,” she explained.
The actress urged all media personnel to verify and re-verify before using anyone’s photo in news reports. “Taking such steps without verification is irresponsible,” she concluded.
