Remembering Wajid Khan: The Musical Maestro Behind Bollywoods Timeless Hits

Mumbai, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Wajid Khan, a renowned music composer, director, and singer, played a significant role in shaping Bollywood’s musical landscape. His melodies resonated across various social strata, earning him a lasting legacy.

Born on October 7, 1977, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Wajid hailed from a family steeped in musical tradition. His father, Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, was a celebrated tabla player, while his uncle, Ustad Faiz Ahmed Khan, was a renowned classical singer. This artistic environment nurtured Wajid’s passion for music from a young age, and he developed a keen understanding of singing and a love for playing the guitar.

Wajid was part of the famous composer duo “Sajid-Wajid,” alongside his elder brother Sajid Khan. They made their mark in Bollywood, starting their career with the film “Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya” in 1988, featuring Salman Khan.

The duo went on to create memorable soundtracks for several blockbuster films, including “Dabangg,” “Partner,” “Veer,” and “Ek Tha Tiger.” Their work on hits like “Tere Naam,” “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi,” and “Wanted” solidified their status in the industry.

In addition to being a talented composer, Wajid was also an exceptional playback singer. His powerful voice graced many popular songs, such as “Hood Hood Dabangg,” “Mera Hi Jalwa,” “Soni De Nakhre,” “Fevicol Se,” “Tujhe Aksaa Beach Ghuma Doon,” “Pandey Ji Seeti,” and “Humka Peeni Hai.”

Wajid married Kamalrukh Khan in 2003, and the couple had two daughters. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 42 on June 1, 2020, in a Mumbai hospital. His contributions to music and his unforgettable songs will always be cherished.
