Activist Dr. Rohini Ghavari Seeks FIR Against MP Chandrashekhar Azad in Delhi Court

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Dr. Rohini Ghavari, a Dalit activist and PhD scholar, has approached the Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi, demanding the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Chandrashekhar Azad, the MP from Nagina. Ghavari has leveled serious allegations of exploitation against Azad.

Speaking to reporters outside the court, she stated, “This struggle began on August 6, 2025. We have been tirelessly working to ensure our voices are heard through legal channels. When something happens to you, you turn to the law. The daughters of this country trust the law. What is happening to me? It has been 18 months.”

Ghavari expressed her hope that her voice would finally be heard in court. “I left my career in Switzerland and returned because I believed that being among my people and standing before the judge would ensure my concerns were acknowledged,” she added.

She accused the police of ignoring her complaints, stating, “They kept me at the Parliament Street police station for 12 hours straight. They also detained me at the airport police station. Now that the matter has reached court, the police have requested more time again. The court has granted them extensions three times already.”

Her lawyer, Ashish Das, raised concerns about the investigation process, questioning the integrity of previously obtained photographic evidence. “We are looking into whether the photos have been tampered with. This entire aspect is under investigation,” he noted.

Das emphasized, “My demand is that the FIR be registered first, then an investigation can follow. Achieving justice in this country is not easy. Victims often have to approach the police multiple times without success, ultimately leading them to court to plead for help. I cannot comment on the police’s role.”

Dr. Ghavari’s petition for a rape case against MP Chandrashekhar Azad is currently pending in court, with the police requesting additional time to submit a status report on the case.
