ABVP Submits Memorandum to DU Vice-Chancellor Addressing Student Issues

New Delhi, May 22: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), along with the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), met with the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University on Friday to submit a memorandum regarding significant student issues. The administration took these matters seriously, promising immediate solutions for some and a swift resolution for others.

The DUSU, led by ABVP, presented a detailed memorandum addressing the problems faced by female students residing in various hostels, including the university’s women’s hostel. The memorandum highlighted that the final semester exams are scheduled to continue until June, coinciding with the UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, and other competitive exams. The pressure on female students to vacate the hostels during this critical period is not only unjust but also raises serious concerns about their academic future, mental health, and safety. Following ABVP’s intervention, the university administration has allowed final-year female students to remain in the hostel as regular residents until June 30, 2026.

Additionally, the administration acknowledged the concerns raised by ABVP regarding technical and documentation issues faced by students during the PG admission process. The organization also informed the administration that in several hostels, basic amenities like water and electricity are being disrupted to pressure female students, study rooms are being closed, and warnings of additional financial penalties are being issued. ABVP has labeled this as institutional harassment and demanded an immediate halt to these practices.

Sarthak Sharma, the minister of ABVP Delhi Province, stated that every decision made by the university administration should be based on the principles of student welfare, transparency, and equal opportunity. ABVP will continue to fight for the rights, dignity, and academic interests of students, raising every issue related to student welfare with seriousness.
