Mumbai, February 11: Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, Abu Azmi, addressed the recent guidelines regarding ‘Vande Mataram‘, stating that everyone has their own beliefs. Some worship one God, while others may worship multiple deities, the sun, the earth, or even snakes. Each individual’s faith is unique.

Azmi emphasized that Muslims are not opposed to ‘Vande Mataram‘, but their religious obligations prevent them from praying to anyone other than Allah. He noted that when attending the assembly, they stand during the singing of ‘Vande Mataram‘.

He further explained that if he were to recite a verse from the Quran and ask a non-Muslim brother to join him, it would be inappropriate. Each person should follow their own religion while respecting others. Azmi expressed his commitment to India, stating that he cannot engage in debates that may polarize communities, which he believes is the intention of the BJP.

He warned against attempts to instigate conflict between Hindus and Muslims, asserting that he does not wish to make statements that could contribute to such divisions. He reiterated that the country is free and that the constitution allows every individual to practice their religion while respecting others, working together for national development.

On the recent passing of Ajit Pawar, Azmi responded to Rohit Pawar’s inquiry, stating that there should be no objection to an investigation into the accident of such a prominent leader. He expressed sorrow over Ajit Pawar’s death, calling him a good person, and suggested that if there is a demand for an external agency to conduct an investigation, the Chief Minister and Prime Minister should agree to it for clarity.
