Mumbai, February 18: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Sunetra Pawar, has called for a CBI investigation into the plane crash involving former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. In response, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi emphasized the need for an external agency to investigate the matter to ensure transparency.

In a conversation in Mumbai, Azmi stated that following Ajit Pawar‘s demise, there are numerous questions from the public that need answers, hence the demand for a CBI inquiry. “I advocate for a thorough investigation by an external agency so that the truth can be revealed,” he added.

On the Telangana government’s special concessions for Muslim government employees during Ramadan, Azmi remarked that if Telangana can provide relief, the Maharashtra government should learn from their example.

Regarding RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comments about having three children, Azmi responded, “Why just three? Have thirty children; who is stopping anyone?” He raised concerns about illegal immigration, questioning the accountability of the ruling BJP since 2014. “If illegal immigrants are entering, it is their responsibility to address it. Those who are illegal should be apprehended and deported,” he asserted.

Commenting on the film ‘The Kerala Files 2’, Azmi criticized it for allegedly targeting Muslims. “This should be governed by the Constitution. The ongoing arbitrariness has reached a tipping point,” he stated.

Regarding the Maharashtra government’s decision to eliminate the 5% reservation for Muslims, Abu Azmi condemned it as a move driven by hatred and communalism. He noted that the Congress and NCP government had announced this reservation in 2014, but it was not properly implemented. “If they truly cared, they could have issued a Government Resolution (GR),” he said.

He further expressed that there is no visible difference between Congress and BJP when it comes to justice for minorities. Instead of merely canceling reservations for polarization, the government should focus on justice. Many traditional professions within the Muslim community in Maharashtra are economically, educationally, and socially backward.
