
Chandigarh, June 2: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming urban body elections in Punjab. On Tuesday, the party announced a total of 67 candidates for various wards in the municipal areas of Shahkot, Dinanagar, Gurdaspur, and Kadian.
The candidate selection took into account reserved wards for Scheduled Castes (SC), women, SC women, Backward Classes (BC), and the general category.
According to the list, candidates for Shahkot Municipal Council include Harbhajan Kaur from Ward 1, Mindo from Ward 2, Ravinder Kumar from Ward 3, Kulwinder Kaur from Ward 4, Nirmal Kumar from Ward 5, Randhir Singh Flora from Ward 6, Harmesh Kumar from Ward 7, Pooja Rani from Ward 8, and Usha Sahota from Ward 9.
For Dinanagar Municipal Council, the candidates are Pradeep Kumar from Ward 1, Rita Devi from Ward 2, Suman Bala from Ward 3, Parveen Kumari from Ward 4, Sarabjeet Singh from Ward 5, Suman Kumari from Ward 6, Bharti from Ward 7, Saroj from Ward 8, Pinderpal Singh from Ward 9, Pooja Devi (SC woman) from Ward 10, Rajinder Kumar from Ward 11, Poonam Mahajan from Ward 12, Rajinder Kumar from Ward 13, Darshan Kaur from Ward 14, and Madan Mohan from Ward 15.
In Gurdaspur Municipal Council, AAP has also declared candidates for all major wards. The candidates include Vishal Chaudhary from Ward 1, Sukhwinder Kaur from Ward 2, Sanjeev Kumar from Ward 3, Narinder Jeet from Ward 4, Sharanjeet Singh from Ward 5, Harjinder Kaur from Ward 6, Davinder Singh from Ward 7, Palwinder Kaur from Ward 8, Yogesh Sharma from Ward 9, and Sudha from Ward 10.
Additionally, candidates for Ward 11 include Hitesh Mahajan, Harjeet Kaur from Ward 12, Sahil from Ward 13, Jail Masiha from Ward 14, Gagan Mahajan from Ward 15, Anu Mahajan from Ward 16, Roopesh Kumar from Ward 17, Rachna from Ward 18, Narinder from Ward 19, Jyoti from Ward 20, Sandeep Kumar from Ward 21, Asha Rani from Ward 22, Suresh Chander from Ward 23, Seema Kumari from Ward 24, Rishi Kant from Ward 25, Ritika Bhanot from Ward 26, Mandeep Sarmal from Ward 27, Kamla Devi from Ward 28, and Indu Bala from Ward 29. The party prioritized social balance and local representation in candidate selection for this region.
The party has also announced candidates for Kadian Municipal Council, including Tarinder Kumar from Ward 1, Sharanjeet Kaur from Ward 2, Pawan Kumar from Ward 3, Sonia Rani from Ward 4, Manjeet Singh from Ward 5, Ajay from Ward 7, Daljeet Kaur from Ward 8, Babita Khosla from Ward 9, Pooja from Ward 10, Kulwinder Singh from Ward 11, Palvi from Ward 12, Gurmez Singh from Ward 13, Pooja Rani from Ward 14, and Kulwant Kaur from Ward 15.
Alongside the electoral process, the party has made changes to its organizational structure. Robby Kang has been appointed as the district in-charge for Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr).
