Mumbai, March 3: In a remarkable display of ethnic harmony, 24 youths from four distinct communities—Meitei, Kuki, Naga, and Meitei Pangal (Muslim)—have launched an 11-day ‘National Integration Tour’ from Manipur. This journey will traverse the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh expressed his delight at this initiative, stating that these youths represent a unified Manipur. He flagged off the ‘National Integration Tour 2025-26’ on Tuesday at the Assam Rifles campus in Keithelmanbi.
Organized by the 33rd Battalion of the Assam Rifles, the tour will take place from March 3 to March 13, covering cities such as Imphal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Each community has sent six representatives for this initiative.
The Chief Minister noted that during ethnic strife in the state, over 47,000 individuals, including members of the Meitei and Kuki communities, were safely evacuated by the Assam Rifles. He commended the force for their swift and dedicated efforts during the crisis.
He remarked, “Despite our differences, the elders should not compromise the future of the children. We must forget the past and move forward together towards peace and development.”
During the event, a dialogue session was held where the Chief Minister personally interacted with the youths. He asked Kuki participants in their language, “Bu nanethaham?” (Have you eaten?), to which they replied, “Ka ne tai” (We have eaten). He encouraged the youths to make the most of this opportunity and gain meaningful experiences, assuring them of the state government’s full support.
In a symbolic gesture, one member from each community was grouped together and presented with a flag as a symbol of unity and shared identity. Participants were also provided with kits.
