Noida, March 20: The administration in Gautam Buddh Nagar has adopted a stringent approach to curb the misuse of LPG gas for commercial purposes, black marketing, and illegal refilling activities. Under the directives of the District Magistrate, a comprehensive inspection campaign is underway across the district to ensure transparency in the gas distribution system and protect consumer rights.
As part of this initiative, joint teams have been formed under the leadership of the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Municipal Magistrate. These teams include officials from the Weights and Measures Department, the Food and Supplies Department, and representatives from various oil companies. Their primary objective is to halt illegal use, storage, and refilling of LPG gas.
The District Supply Officer reported that the teams recently conducted surprise inspections in various areas of the district. During one such operation at a gas agency warehouse in the Kasna area, several irregularities were uncovered. Eight filled domestic gas cylinders from the Indane company were found without seals, violating safety standards.
Additionally, a half-filled 10-kilogram domestic cylinder and four empty cylinders were also seized. In total, 13 cylinders were discovered under suspicious circumstances. Preliminary investigations revealed that these activities violate the provisions of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.
In this case, necessary legal action has been initiated against individuals—Kanhaiya Lal, Yogesh, Narendra, and others—under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, at the Beta-2 police station. The administration emphasizes that the misuse of LPG gas for commercial purposes is not only a legal offense but also poses a threat to the general public. Illegal refilling increases the risk of accidents, potentially resulting in loss of life and property.
The District Supply Officer clarified that such inspection campaigns will continue in the district. The administration’s priority is to maintain complete transparency in the gas distribution system and strictly prevent any illegal activities. The public is also urged to report any such illegal activities to the administration promptly, so timely action can be taken.
