Zhao Leqi Meets High-Level Austrian Delegation in Beijing

Beijing, April 2: Zhao Leqi, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, met with a high-level delegation from the Austria-China Friendship Association, led by Markus Stöger, President of the Austrian Federal Parliament.

During the meeting, Zhao emphasized that under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, the relationship between China and Austria is continuously enriching. He noted that cooperation between the two countries is expanding across various sectors. This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Austria.

Zhao expressed China’s readiness to implement the essential agreements reached by the leaders of both nations, while respecting each other’s core interests and major concerns. He highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in areas such as green transition and digital economy, strengthening ties between the peoples of both countries, promoting mutual understanding, maintaining multilateralism, and advancing the deep development of the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership.

Additionally, he mentioned that the National People’s Congress of China is prepared to strengthen dialogue and contact with the Austrian Federal Parliament, share experiences in legislation and oversight, and create a practical cooperation and legal environment.

Markus Stöger also highlighted Austria’s commitment to its relationship with China. He expressed Austria’s readiness to enhance cooperation in trade, humanities, and law, as well as to foster friendship between the peoples of both countries.
