
Kolkata: YouTuber Sayak Chakraborty is now facing legal trouble after accusing a Park Street restaurant of serving beef instead of mutton.
Police informed on Sunday that a complaint was filed against Chakraborty at the Park Street Police Station on Saturday night by a person named Joyraj Bhattacharjee.
According to the complaint, Chakraborty is accused of conspiring to incite communal tension. The complainant also shared this information on social media, stating that he had lodged a formal complaint against a particular influencer.
On Saturday, Kolkata Police arrested an employee of a popular bar-cum-restaurant located in the Park Street area. The arrest was made based on a complaint filed by the YouTuber on Friday night at the same police station, accusing the staff member of serving beef instead of mutton.
The case against the waiter, Sheikh Nasiruddin, was registered under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with deliberately hurting religious sentiments. The accused was denied bail when produced before the court.
It was reported that on Friday night, Sayak visited the well-known bar-cum-restaurant Ollipub with two friends. According to his complaint, they ordered a plate of mutton steak but were allegedly served beef instead.
Following the incident, Sayak shared a video on social media showing an argument with the restaurant’s waiter and manager. The video quickly went viral on the internet.
In the video posted on Facebook, Sayak narrated his experience, stating that he and his friends had ordered mutton but were served beef by the restaurant staff.
