Mumbai, August 14: A young man was shot dead in broad daylight in the Bagodar area of Giridih district, Jharkhand, on Friday morning. The incident occurred near the Hesla-Kapsa junction on a service road. The deceased has been identified as Mithilesh Yadav, a resident of Hesla. Following the shooting, enraged locals blocked the road, demanding the arrest of the assailants and a swift investigation into the murder.
According to police reports, Mithilesh Yadav operated a vehicle washing and servicing workshop in Hesla. On Friday, he was present on the service road near the Hesla-Kapsa junction when assailants arrived and shot him. He died on the spot from the gunshot wound. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident. Hearing the gunfire, nearby residents rushed to the location, and within moments, a large crowd had gathered.
Upon receiving the news, Bagodar police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. They inspected the area and began questioning local residents. Tension escalated in the vicinity as news of the murder spread. Angry villagers took to the streets, halting traffic. Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the killers, an explanation for the incident, and justice for the victim’s family. The roadblock resulted in a long queue of vehicles on both sides.
Bagodar MLA Nagendra Mahto, former MLA Vinod Singh, DSP Dhananjay Ram, and Police Inspector Ajay Kumar also arrived at the scene following the incident. Police officials and local representatives attempted to calm the villagers, assuring them that a serious investigation was underway and that necessary actions were being taken to apprehend the criminals.
Authorities are currently reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and are working to gather potential evidence from the crime scene to track down the perpetrators. The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this time, but police are considering various possibilities, including old grudges and personal disputes, as they continue their investigation.
