Young Woman Murdered by Ex-Boyfriend in Bengaluru Over Rejection of Marriage Proposal

Bengaluru, June 29: A young woman was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend in the Mahalakshmi Layout area of Bengaluru. The police reported that the suspect was apprehended just hours after the incident on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Anjali, while the accused is named Rajiv. Both individuals were residents of K.P. Agrahara in Bengaluru.

According to police, Rajiv and Anjali had been in a relationship for several years after meeting at their workplace, a fact known to their families. However, upon discovering Rajiv’s criminal background, Anjali’s family opposed their marriage and rejected the proposal. Respecting her family’s wishes, Anjali ended the relationship and distanced herself from Rajiv.

Police stated that Rajiv could not accept the breakup and continued to pressure Anjali to marry him. On Sunday evening, he invited her to dinner. After the meal, he took her to Pipeline Road in Mahalakshmi Layout, where a heated argument ensued regarding their breakup.

During the altercation, Rajiv pulled out a knife and slit Anjali’s throat before fleeing the scene. Passersby quickly rushed the severely injured woman to a nearby hospital, but despite the doctors’ efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.

The Mahalakshmi Layout police acted swiftly, locating and arresting Rajiv shortly after the murder. They have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings reveal that Anjali had rejected Rajiv’s marriage proposal, which led to the tragic incident.

In a related case, on June 14, a 22-year-old woman from Sikkim was murdered by her boyfriend in Bengaluru following a dispute. The victim, identified as Aati Hangma Subba, worked as a receptionist in a salon. The accused, Purba Lepcha from Darjeeling, was employed as a waiter in a hotel. Initial reports indicate that the couple had been in a relationship and had moved to Bengaluru about a month prior.

Police revealed that the suspect suspected the woman of having an affair, leading to a confrontation where he attacked her with a kitchen knife, resulting in her death.
