Lucknow, April 19: The reforms initiated by the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh are visibly transforming the madrasah education system into a more transparent, modern, and organized framework.
As a result, the number of students participating in the Uttar Pradesh Madrasah Education Council’s 2026 examinations has significantly increased. This year, 12,510 more candidates took the exams compared to last year, reflecting a growing trust in the madrasah education system. In 2025, a total of 68,423 students participated, while this year, the number rose to 80,933, marking an increase of approximately 18.29%.
The Yogi government’s commitment to transparency in the examination process, a copy-free environment, and timely results has strengthened the confidence of both students and parents. Notably, the Arabic-Persian Munshi/Maulvi (Secondary) and Alim (Senior Secondary) examinations, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Madrasah Education Council, were held peacefully across the state on February 9. The exams took place in 277 centers across 71 districts, conducted in two shifts: the Munshi/Maulvi exam in the first shift and the Alim Arabic exam in the second.
For the Munshi/Maulvi exam, a total of 62,232 candidates were registered, including 32,389 boys and 29,843 girls. In the Alim exam, 18,701 students registered, comprising 9,092 boys and 9,609 girls. These figures indicate a continuous increase in female participation in madrasah education.
To ensure fairness and prevent cheating, the Yogi government implemented special measures this year. Mobile teams, internal inspection units, sector magistrates, and static magistrates were deployed at the district level. Additionally, a centralized monitoring system was established at the council level, which included continuous surveillance of examination centers through CCTV cameras. The strict measures resulted in a completely peaceful and orderly examination process.
Officials from the Madrasah Education Council have stated that preparations for announcing the exam results in May are in the final stages. Timely results will benefit students in their further studies, admissions, and other educational plans.
Moreover, the Yogi government’s efforts to integrate madrasah education into the mainstream, provide modern facilities, and implement a transparent system have created a positive atmosphere. This growing confidence is evident in the record number of students participating in the madrasah board examinations, affirming their support for the government’s policies.
