Kolkata, April 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a strong attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during his visit to West Bengal. He stated that Mamata Banerjee opposed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) out of fear that an increase in the Hindu population would disrupt Iftar celebrations on the streets.
Blaming the TMC for chaos in Bengal, the Chief Minister asserted that the party does not believe in democracy. He highlighted that during the first phase of voting, TMC supporters attacked BJP leaders and candidates, showcasing their lawlessness. However, he predicted that when the results are announced on May 4, TMC goons will have nowhere to hide. He emphasized that Bengal will no longer tolerate chaos. The time has come to rid Bengal of the stigma of looting imposed by the Congress, Communists, and TMC. The people of Bengal have decided to bring in a double-engine government that will work at double speed.
While addressing a rally in support of BJP candidate Shruti Shekhar Goswami from the Nabadwip assembly constituency, CM Yogi paid homage to the spiritual land of Nabadwip and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Despite the intense heat, the affection of the people of Bengal for CM Yogi was evident, as thousands chanted his name throughout the rally.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the voters for their support. He congratulated them for the record turnout in the first phase, stating that every voter is motivated to free Bengal from terror, mafia rule, and corruption, aiming to restore its identity as a symbol of India. He predicted that on May 4, the saffron flag of Nabadwip would wave across Bengal.
CM Yogi noted that 500 years ago, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu attracted the world with the sweet melody of Hare Krishna, establishing India’s eternal flag on the global stage. He mentioned that ISKCON monks are continuing this work, spreading devotion while promoting nationalism and encouraging the Hindu community to rise above caste divisions.
He lamented that despite Bengal giving so much to India, it has faced betrayal. He honored saints, freedom fighters, reformers, and scientists born in Bengal, acknowledging their contributions. He pointed out that once, Nabadwip and Bengal provided identity to India, but now they face an identity crisis due to the TMC government, which symbolizes terror, mafia rule, and corruption. He condemned the brutal murder of BJP worker Sanjay Bhoumik and criticized TMC goons for their unchecked activities. He claimed that land, sand, and cattle mafias dominate Bengal, and TMC goons misappropriate funds sent from Delhi. However, he believes Bengal has awakened, and the era of extortion and chaos will end.
CM Yogi urged voters to liberate themselves from the TMC government, which he accused of robbing their rights. He criticized the TMC’s opposition to the CAA, which guarantees citizenship to persecuted Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who have been in India for over five years. He argued that the TMC’s opposition stems from a fear of increasing Hindu numbers, which he claimed would disrupt Iftar celebrations. He asserted that in Uttar Pradesh, no one can hold Iftar parties or prayers on the streets, and there is no call to prayer from mosques.
He further criticized Mamata Banerjee for opposing Durga Puja, idol immersion, and the chanting of “Jai Shri Ram.” He mentioned that the Kolkata High Court had to intervene to ensure that those attacking Durga Puja processions were dealt with, yet the TMC government took no action. He made it clear that no one can stop the worship of Maa Kali and Maa Durga in Bengal, and any attempts to do so will be met with protests. He vowed that the slaughter of cows and the division of Hindus will not be tolerated on Bengal’s soil.
