Yoga: A Lifelong Practice Strengthening Body and Mind, Says Sanjeev Kumar Kassi

New Delhi, June 21: Sanjeev Kumar Kassi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, emphasized on Sunday that yoga is not just a one-day celebration but a lifelong practice that strengthens both the body and mind.

He urged everyone to promote the message of International Yoga Day and to incorporate yoga into their daily routines while inspiring others to do the same.

The Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines jointly celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day (IDY) 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting overall health, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle among its officials and staff.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Veena Kumar Darmal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, highlighted the importance of making yoga an integral part of daily life. She encouraged all officials and employees to adopt yoga as a daily habit. Dr. Darmal noted that prolonged sitting can adversely affect physical and mental health, and regular yoga practice can help improve posture, reduce stress, enhance concentration, and promote overall health.

She encouraged everyone to dedicate a few minutes each day to yoga for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from officials and staff of both ministries, reflecting their commitment to embracing health as an essential part of professional and personal life.

According to an official statement, the collective practice of yoga fostered a sense of unity, discipline, and awareness among participants.

This joint celebration underscored the shared commitment of the Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines to promote preventive healthcare, workplace wellness, and a healthier, more productive workforce, while reiterating the importance of making yoga a daily practice for achieving overall health and sustainable well-being.
