Yoga Day Celebrations Resonate in Uttarkashi with Enthusiastic Participation

Uttarkashi, June 21: The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with grandeur across various locations in Uttarkashi district. This year’s theme, “Yoga for a Healthy Age,” attracted thousands who committed to adopting a healthy, balanced, and positive lifestyle through yoga practice. Special enthusiasm was observed in all development blocks, including the remote areas of Yamunotri and Gangotri.

The main district-level event took place at the Government Ideal Kirti Inter College in Uttarkashi. The program commenced with the lighting of lamps and a message emphasizing the importance of yoga. Trained yoga instructors guided the attendees through yoga postures, pranayama, meditation, and various physical activities. They also provided detailed insights into the significance of yoga for physical health, mental balance, stress relief, and positive energy.

On this occasion, Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan remarked that yoga has transcended India’s borders and is now embraced worldwide. He emphasized that yoga is not merely an exercise but a comprehensive way of life that establishes balance among body, mind, and soul. He encouraged all citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routines while extending his best wishes for International Yoga Day.

District Magistrate Prashant Arya noted that yoga day programs were organized in both shrines of the district, across all development blocks, and various institutions. He highlighted the increasing importance of yoga in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, urging everyone to include yoga in their daily regimen. Regular yoga practice enhances efficiency, concentration, and mental resilience.

In remote areas of the district, a significant number of youths, women, the elderly, and children participated in yoga programs, showcasing their awareness and faith in yoga.

Notable attendees included State Minister Pratap Singh Pawar, Municipal President Bhupendra Chauhan, President of the Uttarakhand Medical Council Dr. J.N. Nautiyal, BJP District President Nagendra Chauhan, Garhwal Coordinator Kishore Bhatt, Block Head Mamta Pawar, Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay, Additional District Magistrate Mukta Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police Janak Pawar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. B.S. Rawat, and many other officials, representatives, and esteemed citizens.

Additionally, a special yoga camp was organized by the practitioners of Shivanand Ashram in the temple complex of Gangotri. Participants included police, ITBP, SDRF, PAC personnel, and pilgrims from across the country and abroad, all enthusiastically taking part. The event was conducted peacefully and successfully.
