Yellow Alert for Rain in NCR: Relief from Heat Expected

New Delhi, August 11: The weather in the national capital is set to change once again. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rain in Delhi-NCR on August 11. The sky is expected to be overcast, with light to moderate rainfall likely in several areas.

According to the IMD, the rain is anticipated to bring a drop in maximum temperatures, providing some relief from the sweltering heat. However, increased humidity following the rain may cause discomfort for residents.

The IMD forecasts a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius for August 11. Humidity levels are expected to be quite high. Light to moderate rain is predicted in the morning, continuing into the afternoon, with a decrease in intensity during the evening and night, where it may taper off to very light rain. Throughout the day, intermittent clouds and showers can be expected.

The weather forecast for August 12 also indicates generally cloudy conditions with a chance of light rain or drizzle. The maximum temperature is expected to remain at 34 degrees, while the minimum is projected at 24 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels may hover around 90% and 80%. No warnings have been issued for this day. On August 13, the weather is expected to remain predominantly cloudy with light rain or drizzle, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 25 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has not issued any warnings for August 13 either. Forecasts suggest that on August 14, the maximum temperature could reach 33 degrees, with a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius. The sky will likely remain generally cloudy with the possibility of light rain. Humidity is expected to be around 85% and 75%.

No warnings have been issued for August 14 as well. Similar weather conditions are expected on August 15, with a maximum temperature of 33 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius. The sky will be generally overcast, with light rain possible. On August 16, temperatures are expected to be around 34 degrees for the maximum and 24 degrees for the minimum, with forecasts indicating generally cloudy conditions and light rain or drizzle.

According to the weather department, pleasant weather is expected in Delhi-NCR from August 11 to 16. The continuous movement of clouds and intermittent rain may provide respite from the harsh sun and heat, with maximum temperatures around 33-34 degrees Celsius. However, due to humidity levels ranging from 75% to 90%, the post-rain conditions may lead to discomfort from sticky heat. Additionally, there is a possibility of waterlogging and traffic disruptions in low-lying areas during the rain across NCR, including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Drivers are advised to exercise caution during rainfall.
