Washington, August 22: Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit the United States within two weeks. This announcement was made by U.S. President Donald Trump during a Republican rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. However, Trump did not provide details about the date, location, or agenda for Xi’s visit.
Trump referenced Xi Jinping while discussing the proposed military and ballroom complex at the White House. He noted that the current East Room is too small for major official events and foreign delegations. “We have a very small room right now. It has been this way for many years. It’s called the East Room, and it can only accommodate 88 people,” he said.
He expressed a wish that the proposed new ballroom would be ready before Xi’s visit. “I wish we had a ballroom right now. But very soon, in about a year, you will have one of the best ballrooms in the world,” Trump stated.
During the rally, Trump informed attendees that the U.S. Supreme Court has approved the advancement of this White House project. He mentioned that the complex would also include military facilities, featuring security measures such as drones, missiles, and bulletproof glass.
Trump acknowledged that the military department has wanted this project for the past 100 years, and several presidents have aimed for it over the last 150 years. He thanked the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice for their support in moving the project forward.
According to the President, construction is progressing under budget and ahead of schedule. However, he did not disclose the total estimated cost of the project.
Trump mentioned Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit while defending his tariff policy. He claimed that these tariffs have encouraged international companies to establish manufacturing units in the U.S. “We have imposed historic tariffs on foreign goods. These tariffs are generating significant revenue,” he noted. He added that foreign companies face two options: either pay tariffs when shipping goods to the U.S. or manufacture their products domestically.
“Come to America and build your cars here,” Trump urged, stating that he has conveyed this message to foreign automakers. He claimed that there is a $19.2 trillion investment flowing into the U.S., leading to a significant surge in factory construction. However, the speech did not provide sources for this figure or details about the investments involved.
