Vadodara, 26 January – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the toss and chose to bowl in the 16th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the BCA Stadium on Monday.
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana, who opted to bowl, said, “Dew has been a factor at this venue. It is always better to know the target while chasing. We need to focus on good fielding and bowling and correct the mistakes made in the previous match. There are no changes in our playing eleven.”
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed the importance of the match, stating, “We would have chosen to bowl if we had won the toss. This is a crucial game for us.” She added that the team had a meeting before the match and hoped to implement their plans effectively. Amelia Kerr has returned to the team while Kerry is out due to injury.
For Mumbai Indians, a victory is essential to stay in the playoff race. The team currently stands fourth on the points table, having lost four out of six matches. After a narrow 3-wicket defeat against RCB, Mumbai Indians secured wins against Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants but then suffered three consecutive losses.
Meanwhile, RCB had already qualified for the next stage with five consecutive wins but were halted by Delhi Capitals in their last match. RCB will aim to regain their winning momentum in this encounter.
