Womens Asia Cup 2026 Set to Kick Off on August 28, India-Pakistan Clash Scheduled

New Delhi, August 6: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the schedule for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, which will commence on August 28. India and Pakistan have been placed in ‘Group A’ of the tournament, and both teams will face each other in a highly anticipated match on September 5.

This will be the sixth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup, played in the T20 format, featuring eight teams divided into two groups. ‘Group A’ includes India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Hong Kong (China), while ‘Group B’ consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE, and Indonesia.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, with the final match scheduled for September 13. All matches will take place under floodlights at the Dubai International Stadium.

The Women’s Asia Cup began in 2004, with the first four editions played in the ODI format, all won by India. Since 2012, the tournament has been held in T20 format. India claimed the title against Pakistan in both 2012 and 2016, while Bangladesh won the championship in 2018 by defeating India.

In 2022, India secured their seventh Women’s Asia Cup trophy with an 8-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. The two teams met again in 2024, but Sri Lanka emerged victorious, winning their first title by 8 wickets.
