Women Take Charge of Trains in Ranchi and Dhanbad on International Womens Day

Ranchi, March 8: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, empowering initiatives were observed in the railway divisions of Ranchi and Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The railway administration entrusted several key responsibilities to female employees, allowing them to manage train operations, security, and ticket inspections.

A team of women staff completely operated the Ranchi-Irgavon train departing from Ranchi Railway Station. This special initiative involved around 15 female railway workers, including a locomotive pilot, assistant locomotive pilot, train manager, TTE, and female personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF). This team effectively handled all responsibilities from the train’s departure to its safe operation and passenger management.

Senior DCM of the Ranchi rail division, Listi Singh, honored the female railway workers present at the station with roses. Passengers on the platform showed enthusiasm for this initiative, applauding the women’s team to boost their morale. Singh stated that International Women’s Day is an opportunity to honor women’s struggles, achievements, and contributions to society.

She emphasized that this initiative was carried out with the spirit of empowering women. Singh highlighted the commitment of the rail division to promote women in all fields and provide them with equal opportunities. Station Master Chanda Kumari Kachhap remarked that Women’s Day should not be celebrated symbolically but should reflect a daily commitment to advancing women’s roles in society.

Meanwhile, the Dhanbad rail division also implemented special initiatives for Women’s Day. The Dhanbad-Sindri Town passenger train, which departed at 11:30 AM, was operated by a female crew. The train’s responsibilities were managed by Janaki Ballabh Bari as the driver, Vandana Kumari as the assistant driver, and Deepa Kumari as the train manager. The return journey from Sindri Town to Dhanbad was also operated by women.

Additionally, at Dhanbad station, female employees were assigned responsibilities for ticket counters, train signaling, ticket inspections, and security. According to railway officials, the aim of this initiative is to highlight women’s capabilities and leadership skills while reinforcing the message of providing equal opportunities across all sectors.
